2014 SUPER BOWL AD LINEUP

Thanks to the tireless work of the SpotBowl research team, we've compiled the most comprehensive Super Bowl ad line-up on the Internet. Read it, study it and then impress your friends with your extensive commercial knowledge. We'll be updating the line-up almost daily, so check back often.

Anheuser-Busch Anheuser-Busch

Details: Five ads totaling four minutes

Description: The Budweiser line-up will include three ads for Bud Light under the new tagline, "The Perfect Beer for Whatever Happens.” Two of the Bud Light spots, titled "Epic Night" (a 60-second ad and a 30-second ad that will play off of each other) are packed with celebrities, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Don Cheadle. The third Bud Light spot – called “So Cool” – will air during the game’s first commercial break and will promote a new reclosable aluminum bottle.

Two other spots for the Anheuser-Busch brand will feature the Clydesdale horses, and another – “Hero’s Welcome” – will pay tribute to soldiers returning from Afghanistan. While last year’s Clydesdale ad featured the bond between a horse and its trainer, this year’s ad, titled “Puppy Love” and released before the game, shows a Clydesdale bonding with a puppy.

Audi of America Audi of America

Details: One 60-second spot in the third quarter

Description: The ad will feature the 2015 Audi A3 Sedan. A pre-game teaser features singer Sarah McLachlan, pleading for public support for a comical Doberman/Chihuahua crossbreed known as the “Doberhuahua.” The final ad, released before the game, will feature a couple that compromises on its choice of dog, the result of which is the Doberhuahua.

AXEAxe

Details: One 30-second ad

Description: The men’s grooming product manufacturer will return with an ad featuring scenes of soldiers and war-bound world leaders who find love. (See the 60-second extended version of the spot here.)

Bank of AmericaBank of America

Details: One 60-second spot between the first and second quarter

Description: The ad will feature the band U2 performing a new song called “Invisible.” The song will be free on iTunes during the game and for 24 hours afterward. For every download, Bank of America will donate $1 to Bono’s HIV/AIDS charity, (RED).

Beats MusicBeats Music

Details: One spot in the third quarter

Description: The spot will feature Ellen DeGeneres dancing with bears and wolves in a “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” parody.

Butterfinger Butterfinger

Details: One 30-second spot in the second half

Description: In its first Big Game ad, Nestlé will use its airtime to launch its upcoming Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups. A teaser for the ad features Mr. and Mrs. Buttercup (chocolate and peanut butter) in couples’ counseling along with several other classic foodpairing couples.

CarMaxCarMax

Details: One 30-second ad in the second quarter

Description: The company, which helps people find and buy the right car, released its spot before the game. In it, a car buyer is greeted with a slow-clapping round of applause from various people during his drive home. Among them is actor Sean Astin, who reprises his role from the 1993 film, “Rudy.”

Cheerios Cheerios

Details: One ad in the first quarter

Description: The spot, titled “Gracie” and released before the game, features a dad using Cheerios to explain to his daughter about the arrival of a baby brother. The ad features the same interracial couple that receive criticism (but mostly praise) when they appeared in a Cheerios commercial in 2013.

Chobani Chobani

Details: One 60-second spot in the third quarter

Description: : The ad for the natural-ingredients yogurt brand will feature a bear ransacking a supermarket in search of “real, natural food.” The ad was released online prior to the game.

Coca-Cola Coca-Cola

Details: Two 60-second spots (one in the second quarter and one in the second half)

Description: In the second half spot, titled “Going All the Way,” a boy recovers a fumble in his youth football game and runs it all the way to the Green Bay Packers’ Lambeau Field, where he’s given a Coke by one of the stadium’s groundskeepers. The ad was released online prior to the game.

DannonDannon

Details: One 30-second spot in the fourth quarter

Description: Dannon will follow up last year’s ad starring John Stamos with another ad for its Oikos Greek yogurt. The ad, titled “The Spill” and released before the game, features Stamos reuniting with former “Full House” co-stars Dave Coulier and Bob Saget.

Doritos Doritos

Details: Two 30-second spots

Description: The Doritos “Crash the Super Bowl” contest, which asks fans to create the brand’s Super Bowl spot, will return for an eighth year. Two fan-created spots will be chosen – one by the Doritos team and one via online poll (see five finalists here) – and the creator of the spot that ranks higher in the USA Today Ad Meter ratings will be invited to work on the set of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." The creator of the spot with the most votes will win $1 million.

General Motors General Motors

Details: Two 60-second spots in the first quarter

Description: After sitting out last year’s game, GM will return with two commercials for Chevrolet. One for the Chevy Silverado truck, titled “Romance” and released online before the game, uses subtle humor to tell the story of a man who uses the truck to haul a bull to be bred with cows.

Details: Two 30-second spots. One in the first half and one in the second half.

Description: After abandoning its risqué formula from last year, the web-hosting company will stick to the cleaner approach with a pair of ads that focus on its core product. One ad, already released on YouTube, features perennial GoDaddy spokesperson Danica Patrick in a lifelike muscle suit running to a spray tan salon along with hundreds of other bodybuilders. The other spot will feature a real woman announcing to her boss for the first time that she’s quitting her job.

H & M H & M

Details: One 30-second spot in the second quarter

Description: H&M’s ad will feature the return of soccer star David Beckham, who will promote his men’s clothing line. Beckham appeared in a Super Bowl ad for the brand in 2012.

HeinzHeinz

Details: One 30-second spot in the fourth quarter

Description: The ad, titled “Hum,” features people humming “If You’re Happy and You Know It” while delivering the brand’s signature tap to the bottom of the ketchup bottle.

Hyundai Hyundai

Details: Two 30-second spots in the first and fourth quarters

Description: The first quarter spot will promote the carmaker’s Genesis luxury Sedan. The Genesis ad features a dad who uses his fatherly sixth sense to save his son from multiple mishaps over the years, ending with the Genesis’ braking system preventing a crash. “Nice,” the fourth quarter ad for the Hyundai Elantra, will feature “The Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki engaging in a flirtatious street race with a woman in another Hyundai. Comedian Richard Lewis will also star as Galecki’s passenger. Both spots are available for pre-game viewing online (“Nice” and "Dad’s Sixth Sense”).

Intuit Intuit

Details: One 30-second ad in the third quarter

Description: The finance and tax software brand is making pre-game headlines by hosting a contest that will give its 30-seconds of Super Bowl ad time to one small business. Four finalists have been announced, with a fan vote determining which one will appear in the Big Game.

Jaguar Jaguar

Details: One 60-second ad in the third quarter

Description: In its Super Bowl debut, the luxury automaker will promote its F-TYPE Coupe. Under the hashtag #GoodToBeBad, the ad will borrow on the Hollywood stereotype of British actors cast as movie villains. The spot, released before the game, will feature U.K. actors Ben Kingsley, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Strong, and will be directed by Tom Hooper, who won a Best Director Oscar for “The King’s Speech” in 2011.

Kia Motors Kia Motor

Details: One 60-second spot in the third quarter

Description: The ad, released before the game, will feature Kia’s K900 model and will feature Laurence Fishburne in a parody of the 1999 film, “The Matrix.”

Mars Mars M&M's

Details: One 30-second spot

Description: The candymaker will feature peanut M&Ms in its Big Game spot. A pre-game teaser features an M&M being abducted, with fans encouraged to tune in on game day to see what happens to the yellow candy.

Pepsi Pepsi

Details: Two 30-second spots

Description: Pepsi will once again sponsor the halftime show (featuring Bruno Mars), but no details are known about its ad plans.

SodaStreamSodaStream International

Details: One 30-second ad in the fourth quarter

Description: The do-it-yourself soda-making machine will return after making its debut in last year’s game. The ad will feature Scarlett Johansson, who will be shown using the machine before seductively sipping a soda in the ad’s second half in an attempt to make the commercial “go viral.” The spot was released online before the game. The last line, “Sorry, Coke and Pepsi,” will be cut from the final ad at the request of the network.

Squarespace Square Space

Details: One 30-second ad

Description: The spot will feature a bleak, dystopian world in which several Internet clichés are brought to life and will show how Squarespace, a website development and hosting platform can promise “a better web.” See the pre-game release of the ad on YouTube.

T-Mobile T-Mobile

Details: Three 30-second spots in the second, third and fourth quarters

Description: The cell phone carrier will air three spots in the Big Game, two of which will star former NFL quarterback, Tim Tebow. The spots promote T-Mobile’s offer to buy out the mobile contracts of customers who switch to its service. The Tebow ads show all the things he’s able to do without the burden of an NFL contract. “No Contract, No Worries” and "Still No Contract” were both released before the game. T-Mobile’s fourth quarter ad is all text and encourages customers to break ties with their current carriers in favor of T-Mobile’s contract-free option.

Toyota Toyota

Details: One 60-second spot during halftime

Description: The spot will promote Toyota’s newly redesigned 2014 Highlander SUV. In it, actor Terry Crews (of Old Spice fame) picks up a gang of rambunctious Muppets after the puppet group’s tour bus breaks down. The spot will co-promote Disney’s upcoming film, “Muppets Most Wanted.” Check out the full version of the ad here.

TurboTax TurboTax

Details: One 60-second ad in the second quarter

Description: The tax software company will make its Super Bowl debut with an ad from its current “It’s amazing what you’re capable of” campaign. The upbeat campaign offers a glimpse at the many highlights of the average person’s year that factor into filing his or her taxes.

Volkswagen Volkswagen

Details: One 60-second ad in the second quarter

Description: Volkswagen’s Big Game ad features VW employees sprouting wings after a dad tells his daughter that every time a Volkswagen goes over 100,000 miles, a German engineer gets his wings. Check out the pre-game release here.

WeatherTech WeatherTech

Details: One 30-second spot in the second quarter

Description: WeatherTech, which makes floor mats for cars, will make its Super Bowl debut with a spot titled “You Can’t Do That.” The ad will focus on the importance of manufacturing in the United States.

Wonderful PistachiosWonderful Pistachios

Details: Two 15-second spots in the second quarter

Description: The ad is expected to continue the brand’s campaign featuring quirky celebrities (last year’s spot featured “Gangnam Style” rapper, PSY). This year’s spot will feature Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert.
